The wedding is over....back to planning

One night in February, I hit my breaking point with wedding planning and the stress that it brings. I looked at Pete and said, " Can we just forget all of our plans and get married on the beach this summer?" And because he is such an amazing person, his response was, "Whatever you want to do babe, if you're happy, I'm happy." So, we sat down with my dad, talked things out and that weekend contacted a company on Tybee Island. Our wedding was originally scheduled for the fall of this year, as we got more into planning we found out that most Saturdays were already booked at venues we liked and our only options were to do a Friday or Sunday wedding. Plus, we had not even thought about planning a honeymoon because I would have to take time off work for us to go on one. So, changing the wedding plans meant moving the wedding up 6 months. Thankfully our families were very understanding, especially Pete's considering they had to travel from Florida, Kansas, and Hawaii(they only had 4 months to make these arrangements).

As soon as the changes were made though, I immediately felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. The wedding was paid for, the officiant was booked, and anything else to be planned were just details. Because we changed the wedding, we knew we didn't want all of our friends and family members to feel obligated to be there. We knew that it just wasn't right to expect people to spend extra money and take time off work to travel to our wedding, so we kept the guest list to just immediate family. Rewind to two weeks ago; the wedding weekend and ceremony were more perfect for us than anything else we could have planned. Everything was so relaxed and intimate that it let us completely experience the joy of what was happening.

Well, now that we're back home, we are having a reception to celebrate with everyone at home. That means back to planning! Back to making guest list, making invitations, getting in touch with people, and deciding what exactly we want it to be like. And, since I have been eating like a pig since the wedding, worrying about fitting into my dress, again! Thankfully, I have family members that are pretty much taking control of everything and just telling me when I need to show up! I'm very excited to have to opportunity to celebrate this occasion with everyone, but I will be thankful to have all of the parties finished so that I can send out 'thank you' notes and then not look at an address list again until its time to mail our Christmas cards!
